Law Hazards - Free Advice at Parties

Lawyers, like doctors, are subject to the recurring hazard of being asked for free advice at parties. Luckily for most of them, the growing trend towards specialising in smaller and narrower fields of law means that most lawyers are about as good at dealing with normal people's problems as a heart surgeon would be at advising on a sore back.

My wife Sarah gets asked for free advice at parties all the time. Her response? Oh...I don't do any actually useful kind of law. Your garden fence dispute, traffic ticket or dodgy property transaction? Get in line at your local solicitor's office....at £350 an hour.
