Advice to Clients
The best satire is funny because it's true. This cartoon is based on a true story told me by a pupil barrister at a leading set of chambers who got dumped in it by his colleagues during a client conference in exactly this way.
Fortunately he knew the case better than the richly rewarded lawyers who were supposed to be running it - and he managed to busk his way through.
How often does a client turn up for a conference only to find that the advisors (paid £400 an hour plus VAT) have done hardly any preparation for the meeting? I certainly have.
And I doubt I'm alone.
