September is time to go back to school, and time to try out all those brilliant ideas that came to you while you relaxed in a deckchair with a glass of prosecco surveying the Tuscan hills. Blue Sky thinking of the best kind, the ideas you jotted down on the back of an airline boarding pass and couldn't wait to try out as soon as you got back.

Many of us have our best ideas on holiday; only sometimes when we get back we find out they aren't quite as brilliant after all. Law firms are no exception; but fortunately for the luckless associates who have to implement the changes, most of these genius summer suggestions will, by Christmas, be long forgotten.
