The Ballad of Legal Aid

The Ballad of Legal Aid

Here at Queen's Counsel we like to satirise lawyers as overpaid fat cats. After all, they are easy targets, and even the government recognises this, as it cuts the legal aid bill yet again.

The reality of politics is that when schools and hospitals are going without - few will weep for underpaid lawyers. But of course, the people who suffer are those accused of criminal offences who can't, and won't, get proper legal representation. In other words, some of the most vulnerable people in society.

One enterprising and musical lawyer has composed a song about it. It's called The Ballad of Legal Aid.

Maybe he has a career as a singer/songwriter instead.
